Service Description

This is for anyone who has passed their UK sniffer dogs scent detection Bronze level course. it's time to put your dogs sniffing to the test, and compete against you fellow wirral woof sniffer dogs. This trial will be held outside in Furry tails dog world back garden. The scent will be the red kong piece. of various different sizes from 5cm- 3mm How a trial Runs Each area is a timed search, the handler can enter the search area, as soon as the dog starts working the timer will start. The handler must indicate to the judge when they think their dog has found, if correct the timer is stopped and the handler and dog must leave the search area in order for the handler to reward the dog. No food should be within the search area as this could hinder the next trial. The judge is to then remove that hide from the search area. When the handler and dog are ready they may enter the search area and again as soon as the dog starts working the timer will be started again and so on. When your timer runs out for the set time given for that particular search, the dog must leave the search area whether they have found all hides or not. If the handler thinks their dog has found and indicates this to the judge but they are incorrect, the judge may tell them that they have got it wrong in order for them to get their dog moving on in their search. Remember this is Bronze level and supposed to be fun! :) Tips Once all the dogs and handlers entered have completed their trials it’s time to tally up the results. The dog with the most finds within the fastest time is the winner. So work out the dogs with the most finds in descending order and then work out the times. Once everyone has booked the trial we give them an allotted time. We allow 15 minutes per dog to complete all of the search areas. People that are waiting for their turn are given tea / coffee and asked to remain within a certain area. Those that have completed their trial are to wait in a different area and also given tea/ coffee, this is to prevent any cheating if you intend on keeping the hides in the same place in your search areas for everyone. Please keep all hides within standing reach for the dogs Please don’t place any hides out in places that the dogs have not got in their training history ie on stairs if they’ve never searched stairs. If someone has 2 or more dogs you will have to ensure the hides are moved for each dog. On completion we award a Bronze rosette & Certificate with their result on
